BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

a) Full:  Automatic membership of the Welsh Bee Keepers Association, which represents us at a national level and produces and circulates the “Welsh Beekeeper” magazine four times a year. It has a website to disseminate information, an annual convention is organized at the RWAS showground, Builth Wells on a Saturday in late March, and it provides Public Liability indemnity of £5 million plus Products Liability indemnity of £5 million for all its members.

Access to Bee Disease Insurance, for compensation in the event of your colonies being destroyed under the statutory control regulations relating to American and/or European Foul Broods. BDI is a charity, and surplus funds are donated to bee research.

Reduced admission charge to BBKA convention in April.

Regular “Hands On” practical beekeeping in the active season at our own apiaries.

Annual Beginners' Course over ten sessions, across the season. Coaching in more advanced techniques given, by some of the more experienced members. Mentoring and “buddying” schemes encouraged between members.

Library of beekeeping books to borrow.

Hire of Association equipment for a modest fee i.e. Association extractors and uncapping trays.

But above all a chance to meet other beekeepers socially, both experienced and beginners, and to discuss your successes, your problems and a variety of topics associated with beekeeping.
